Years ago the Belknap County Conservation District was far ahead of the curve on agricultural best management practices by purchasing a no-till seeder that farmer’s could borrow. The practice of no-till seeding reduces or eliminates exposed soils in crop or hayfields, thereby reducing soil erosion. Over the years our ‘seeder’ got tired, as you can see by our picture, and finally was sold. In recent years we’ve been hearing from farmers they are still very interested in no-till seeding and they have been going far afield to find equipment. To answer the call, BCCD has put in a grant application to purchase a new no-till seeder that will help us engage in a farm equipment rental program. Stay tuned!!
