From the Grafton County Conservation District: Farming has been a way of life for the people of New Hampshire since as far back as people can remember.
In 1935, most of the farms in NH produced milk, hens, and apples. There were 216 dairy farms in New Hampshire, 32 were in Grafton County (at the time of the 2017 Census of Agriculture). There are now 15 active dairy farms in Grafton County (2020).
All this year, we will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of conservation districts in New Hampshire.
